Five staff members from Image Source will take part in the Sleep Out on November 12th in Old Spitalfields Market, East London, in a fundraising bid. The volunteers will be sleeping rough from 7pm until 7am the following morning during the working week, giving up their beds to experience a night out on the winter streets of London. Centrepoint is a charity that houses and supports over 800 vulnerable homeless young people every day between the ages of 16-25 years old.
Image Source has worked previously with young people from Centrepoint running interactive photography workshops, which have proved a successful and rewarding experience for all involved. With the participation at the Sleep Out and online fundraising, Image Source is keen to increase their involvement in the local community. Christina Vaughan, Founder and CEO of Image Source, comments “Our team are keen to support Centrepoint, our local charity, and wanted to take our commitment to young people a step further. We each realise the enormous privilege we have in not being on the streets and feeling vulnerable and we want to give back to the community and work with a charity that we as a big city company can empathise with. The Sleep Out is a great opportunity for the team to get more involved and raise money for such an inspirational organisation.’
The event, organised by Centrepoint is aiming not to re-create homelessness, but to put volunteers through some discomfort to raise money for one night. Running for the past five years, hundreds of Centrepoint supporters have given up their beds for the night to take part. This years Sleep Out will help kick start the charities’ Countdown to Christmas appeal and help mark their 40th Anniversary.
