About the Festival:
This year music and dance are taking a more innovative and theatrical twist at the Festival. Five newly-created ‘Rarey Boxes' - an idea dating back to the 18th Century - have been revived to entertain and delight the crowds alongside the dramatic large lanterns that will be carried through Truro's streets.
Entertainment commences from 5.45pm. The parade itself starts from the Moresk Road area of Truro at 7pm, and travels up St Clement Street, along Union Street, down Castle Street, along River Street into St Nicholas Street and on to Boscawen Street, where the lantern parade will pause for Truro's Christmas lights to be switched on. The musicians and large lanterns will then continue on to Princes Street, along Green Street and on to Back Quay (in front of Hall for Cornwall). The large lanterns, musicians and dancers will continue their journey along Lower Lemon Street, left on to Boscawen Street and then finally up King Street to a special conclusion at the Cathedral. The entire event is expected to finish at approximately 8.45pm.
