BOX-tracker:
BOX telematics’ have demonstrated their commitment to continuous improvement by launching the latest update to their vehicle tracking system, BOX-tracker.
The latest addition to their solution now allows business drivers to ensure that the private use of their vehicle remains private. The process is remarkably simple, via the use of a dedicated Dallas key, and will subsequently make the use of vehicle tracking more appealing to those businesses that provide company cars for their sales fleets.
The presentation of the Dallas key allows the user to switch between the two modes, business and private, so that when in private use all vehicle movements are concealed until business use is back on. BOX-tracker will only log the distance travelled and calculate the time taken. The geographic/location information of the journeys are not recorded. For added driver security, BOX-tracker will still generate events containing positional data if a particular alert is generated, i.e. impact detection (crashes) or a panic button depressed.
“With the latest revisions to legislation concerning vehicle tax, it is has become more important than ever to offer unequivocal evidence on whether a company vehicle has been used for business or personal use, “ said David Mikos, International Sales Manager, BOX telematics.
“Historically vehicle tracking has been viewed as a ‘Big Brother’ feature by some employees and the implementation of a private mileage button aims to eradicate those concerns. The implementation of this new feature will enable the employee to define exactly how the vehicle is being used, while also providing detailed mileage reports in seconds.”
BOX don’t intend resting on their laurels however, with a number of updates being released over the last quarter of 2009 including improvements to the functionality of the onboard accelerometer, impact detection, tow away and speeding alerts.
“BOX is a ‘one-stop’
