Working alongside churches to address the individual physical, economic, educational and spiritual needs of children is no laughing matter. Employees at Compassion International headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colorado take their mission very seriously.
That's why they decided to get the hilarious comedy team, Improv Colorado, to entertain at an upcoming department function. "We all need to laugh," said IT Senior Database Specialist Steve Horne. "Laughter is good medicine and keeps our spirits high. And Improv Colorado is pretty funny," he said.
The nine-member troupe will perform at the company's annual Thanksgiving Blessing just before the holiday. "It's hard to celebrate with lots of food when children are starving," said Horne, but the company likes to show thankfulness and gratitude by sharing food with a family-style potluck.
Improv Colorado is honored to be invited to share in the gratitude celebration. "The world is a difficult place," says Viola Horne, founding member of the comedy troupe and Steve's wife. "We're happy to help people focus on the funny whenever we can, especially people who deal with hardship every day."
The troupe will entertain on November 20, 2009.
