Many of our customers have asked us to provide them some information on what Black Friday computer deals are the best. We advised them all to do their homework before they grab a credit card hit the stores. There are 5 tips we want to provide to anyone planning on buying on Black Friday..or any other Friday:
1. Brand name does not always mean the best computer for you - Many computer users are very loyal to a brand name because of marketing or recommendations. This can be a big mistake if you do not look at what is being offer by the computer you want to purchase. Don't get fooled by looks, size or colors of the unit. Make sure you check the processor speed, memory size, video card and hard drive specifications. These all define how fast your computer will or will not perform. Don't end up with a nice looking but under-performing computer.
2. Desktop or Laptop...that is the question - With the rise in popularity in notebook and netbook computers many need to make a decision on whether to purchase a desktop or laptop computer. Two words are key when makiing that decision - accessibility and mobility. Will you need to make presentations at work or school? Will you need computer access when not in the office or at home. If you will primarily perform task at home a desktop will be best, it will provide a larger screen and you will not have to worry about battery usage. If you frequently use your computer on the go and need wireless or WIFI internet access then a laptop or netbook computer would be your best selection
3. Does low or high price equate to a great computer - Just like in automobile prices price tag does not alway equate to best quality or options. We have seen this with the rise in popularity of such car manufacturer as Hyundai and Kia that price does not alway mean quality will suffer. With companies such as Acer and Asus raising in the ranks of computer sales by offering units with great features, looks, competitive price and performance. Make sure you look past the price when doing your research and find the options that meet your specific needs. You will be very happy with a great performing computer and some extra cash to spare.
4. Size matters when considering a new computer - With the price of notebook computers being lowered by the invention of the netbook many are rushing out to purchase these new units. The best disclaimer we see on these units is "These are not notebook computers" which is very true. Most units DO NOT include a optical CD drive, limited battery life and USB ports. They are primarily used for checking email, facebook or twitter accounts and surfing the web. We do not recommend purchasing these units if you will be working on them for long periods of time or need to access CDs. If you have these computer needs a notebook computer would be best to purchase. The cost will definately be justified by your needs.
5. Software:The hidden cost of computer ownership - Most discount computer purchases are a great experience until the new owner goes out to purchase software. With the cost of Microsoft Office Professional being as much as $299.00 and Adobe Professional being far more many find themselves with a new computer that does not have the software to complete the task they purchased it for. Many new computers come Microsoft Office Ready - meaning they have a 60 to 90 day trial of the software before purchase is required. When planning to purchase a new computer, make sure you add in the cost of the software you require before you purchase. Look for software sales, discounts and rebates to assist in the initial cost of the system. This will lead to you having a complete system to meet your personal and business needs.
Black Friday can be one of the best times to purchase a new computer, many stores have promotions and deals that will meet any budget. Do your homework, plan before you buy and stick with your plan. This way you will get the deal of your lifetime and a computer to meet your needs.
