FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Nov 07, 2009 – As we age, our natural lens becomes cloudy and stiff causing a need to wear to reading glasses and eventually causing difficulties with vision that can range from extreme glare from sunlight or headlights, to color vision changes, to feeling like there is a "smudge" on your eyeglasses.  Many patients report problems with night driving, reading small print, and watching television.

There have been many new developments in cataract surgery techniques.  Today, the procedure is performed on an out-patient basis with the patient taking some pre-operative and post-operative eye drops.  During the procedure the patient is awake, but is given some medication to help them relax and just a few eye drops are placed in the eye so that there is no discomfort. There are no shots or stitches required. The entire procedure takes just 5-7 minutes to complete, with the total stay at the surgical center lasting a little over an hour.  Often patients resume driving and returning to work the next day.

Dr. Botelho offers the latest advances in lens implant technology with premium lens implants to help patients become less dependent on near vision reading glasses and toric implants to help patients suffering from astigmatism.   There are many types of intraocular lens implants to choose from, each one recommended based on a person's eyesight desires.  After an initial private consultation and testing with Dr. Botelho,  you and he together will choose which premium lens implant will enable you to attain your best vision and achieve your lifestyle goals.

There are several types of cataract surgery, each one tailored to a specific patient need:

     Cataract Surgery
  *
     Premium Lens Implants
   *
     Sutured IOLs
   *
