Select Sound DJ's John L. apologized today to popular Rhode Island DJ Ra-Mu and the Crew via text message. This occured after DJ Ra-Mu addressed the situation head-on via phone conversation.
"How dumb can you be?", asks Ra-Mu. "If you are going to rip me off, at least do in another state."
This isn't the 1st time that Select Sound has been involved with controversy. Last year, Select Sound was the center of a music piracy ring.
"Rookies!", says Ra-Mu. "Those kind of actions might fly in Canada, maybe Maine, but this is Rhode Island. The Ocean State is so small, you can whisper in Pawtucket and be heard in Westerly", laughs Ra-Mu. "We live in a global community where word travels fast, especially when someone ripps you off."
"I'm still shocked that this happened", says Ra-Mu. "Select Sound has two owners and I've never had a problem with them before. Wayne, one of the owners of Select Sound, was recently honored at a local DJ convention and seems like a great guy. Wayne might want to look for a new partner and stay away from this kind of controversy."
To all of the other DJ's out there, beware of the copycats!
Wikepedia defines plagiarism below:
Plagiarism is not the same as copyright infringement. While both terms may apply to a particular act, they are different transgressions. Copyright infringement is a violation of the rights of a copyright holder, when material protected by copyright is used without consent. On the other hand, plagiarism is concerned with the unearned increment to the plagiarizing author's reputation that is achieved through false claims of authorship.
