Connecting Kids To Nature

Getting kids outdoors and connect them to Nature is the driving force behind the Little Humbugs.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Nov 06, 2009 – “Connecting Kids to Nature”... there has never been a more important time to get kids back in tune with Nature. The Little Humbugs is an award winning book series created by Marghanita Hughes is based on butterfly girl characters that help protect mother nature. The story revolves around Jasmine the butterfly Girl and her quest to find a human friend that will join the little humbugs fight to look after and protect the beautiful natural world.
For a number of years now Marghanita has grown concerned that many of todays children don’t spend nearly enough time outdoors. This has resulted in a growing disconnect between our children and the Natural World. Unfortunately for many families technology and over worked parents has caused us to drift away from what is surely one of our greatest assets in terms of giving us a sense of well being and happiness. Marghanita believes that “if we can instill a little magic into how we address the problem we can ignite a child's curiosity and enthusiasm, for playing outdoors.”
In order for children to want to help look after Mother Nature they first need to experience it's .....MAGIC!

The Little Humbugs are the magic ingredient to spark your child’s imagination. The Butterfly girls and Dragonfly Boys live in harmony with nature, not dissimilar to how we all used to live. With characters like Chloe the Gardener, Lucy the Bird Keeper, Nika the Gemstone Collector or Jasmine the Leader, they encourage kids to get outdoors and explore, go rock hunting, bird watching, plant some seeds, hunt for sticks or dance with butterflies.

Marghanita has seen first hand on many occasions the Little Humbugs weave their magic on children. Children love to imagine themselves as the Butterfly Girl fairy or Dragonfly Boy, it comes naturally to them to want to fly around just like a butterfly but when they understand that they are the Protectors of Nature, that’s when it gets really powerful.
When talking with Marghanita you realize that your desire to get children outdoors and enthused by Mother Nature is attainable. She goes on to explain that with all the day to day pressure our children are under is it any wonder that getting outdoors and enjoying free play is so difficult.
This is where the Little Humbugs come into play, quite literally. When kids engage with the stories and character dolls they want to emulate them by being outdoors and discovering the wonders of Nature, or perhaps even trying to spot a real Little Humbug.
Check out the Little Humbugs website www.littlehumbugs.com and drop Marghanita a line and request the free coloring in booklet, featuring all the main characters from the enchanting stories.
