CHICAGO, IL (November 5, 2009) – According to new data released by the CDC, people with asthma account for approximately 32% of 2009 H1N1 hospitalizations in the United States.  The American Lung Association in Greater Chicago urges people with asthma to get both the seasonal and the H1N1 injectable flu shots (inactivated formulation only).

“All people with asthma, especially children, should have their asthma well-controlled with an Asthma Action Plan, “explains Harold Wimmer, President & CEO of the American Lung Association in Greater Chicago.  “People with asthma are at an increased risk for serious flu-related complications and should promptly seek treatment when ill.”
