Deborah R. Willig, Esq. Inducted to Temple University League for Entrepreneurial Women Hall of Fame

Philadelphia Union-Side Attorney Receives Prestigious Honor from Temple University

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Nov 06, 2009 – Philadelphia union-side labor law firm Willig, Williams & Davidson is pleased to announce that Managing Partner Deborah R. Willig, Esq., has been inducted into the Temple University League for Entrepreneurial Women’s Hall of Fame. A Temple University School of Law alumna, Willig was honored during Temple’s 10th Annual Women’s Entrepreneurship Conference on October 27, 2009, held at the university’s main campus.

Hall of Fame inductees were selected based upon their entrepreneurship, leadership, innovation and impact on the Philadelphia business community. Willig, who is an accomplished labor and employment attorney, has served as Willig, Williams & Davidson’s managing partner since the firm’s founding in 1979. In 1992, she became the Philadelphia Bar Association’s first woman Chancellor.

“As a business woman and attorney, I fully recognize that we can start our own businesses, advocate on behalf of others, change laws, and be the first female president of any organization,” said Willig. “It is also important to serve as a role model and a mentor to other women and to let them see that we can accomplish anything we set our minds to. It’s all about dedicating time, investing resources, taking risks, being passionate and giving back.”

A determined advocate for workers, Willig has focused her practice on labor relations and employment law since 1976. She represents a wide range of labor unions, including teachers, non-professional public school employees, public health, social and recreation workers, firefighters, teamsters and food service workers. Willig also maintains an active practice in the representation of employee benefit funds, including jointly administered funds in the public and private sectors.

Willig has held leadership positions with numerous organizations throughout her career. In addition to serving as the first female Chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association, she is the current President of the French International School of Philadelphia. “Best Lawyers in America” has listed Willig as one of the field’s top labor and employment lawyers since 1999. Philadelphia Magazine has included her as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer™ since 2004, listing her among the Top 50 Women Lawyers in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 2007, 2008 and 2009, and among the Top 100 Women Lawyers in Philadelphia in 2009. Willig is also a sought-after lecturer who is regularly called upon to speak to the media, unions and legal organizations regionally and nationally.

Temple’s League for Entrepreneurial Women is a collaborative effort of the Temple University School of Communications and Theater, School of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Fox School of Business and College of Engineering. The League’s annual fall conference promotes entrepreneurial leadership among Temple University students, focusing on timely issues impacting entrepreneurial women in business.
