53% of the respondents said they owned a games console and 47% did not. When asked “Have you ever been unfaithful in a relationship?”
The PS3PriceCompare research also suggested that gamers were less likely to face temptation, with over two thirds saying that they would rather spend their free time at home, compared to just 28% of the men who didn’t own a games console. Non-gamers were more likely to paint the town red, with 59% saying most of their free time is spent in a pub or club.
Although gamers were the most likely to stay loyal in a relationship, it was the men who didn’t own a games console that were the most romantic. Eight out of ten said that they regularly wined and dined a date or the lady in their life, whereas only 44% of console owners said the same.
Interestingly, more than half of the games console owners that took part in the research had been cheated on in the past, despite the fact that they were more trustworthy. Less than 20% of the men who didn’t own a console had been a victim of infidelity.
Mike Elsmore, head developer of PS3PriceCompare.co.uk said,
“I suppose gamers either just don’t have the time or the motivation to go out and cheat, as most of them would prefer to spend their leisure time at home with their consoles rather than going out and about. For the gamer, the console is his mistress.
He continued, “As for gamers not being romantic, I’m not so sure I agree with that one! Perhaps that’s just because I’m a keen gamer, but still like to make an effort when it comes to the lady in my life. Even though us gamers were the most loyal in this research, it’s quite shocking to know that we’re the most likely to be cheated on.”
