Kier Facilities Services (KFS) has this month opened a new regional office in Manchester. The facilities and maintenance specialist, part of international construction and property services company Kier Group, is making the move into the north in response to recent contract wins in the region.
The demand from existing and potential clients is significant, and the Manchester move clearly marks Kier as a national player in the facilities marketplace. KFS’ existing northern clients include St Helens NHS Lift Trust, the Ministry of Justice, Oldham Schools PFI and Oldham Library PFI, and the company is currently working on the mechanical and electrical systems at the new Greater Manchester Police Headquarters on behalf of the joint venture Ask/Goodman.
The Manchester office is the fifth KFS regional office and completes a national network enabling them to service the whole of the UK. As with the existing regions, Manchester will report into the Basingstoke headquarters where KFS managing director Colin Hale spends much of his working week. “The work we’ve won in the north-west is hugely encouraging for us,” commented Hale. “News reports on the state of the economy and industry in general seem to conflict week to week, but we’ve definitely noticed an upward trend.”
That trend isn’t confined to the north-west however. Over the last 12 months KFS turnover has grown at an impressive 15%. Kier is a name known throughout the building industry, and Kier Facilities Services is reinforcing the group’s reputation for providing competitive and innovative solutions.
The November opening gives the KFS team plenty of time to settle in before the Christmas break. January brings two focal points for the new KFS office, as Colin Hale points out: “Our first priority is to lend full support to our existing clients in the north-west. Following a close second is searching out new clients to extend our influence in the area.”
The new year promises to be an exciting period for Kier Facilities Services. The Manchester office opened for business on 2 November 2009.
