Phoenix Mayor to Perform Ribbon Cutting on Nation’s First NAHB Remodel
Among the many exciting events taking place during the upcoming Greenbuild 2009
Convention in Phoenix will be the unveiling of the country’s first National Green Building
Standard Emerald-certified remodeled home, verified by the NAHB Research Center.
The landmark residence at 150 W Elm Street in Phoenix will be officially opened with a
ribbon-cutting ceremony officiated by Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon, and is one of many
houses remodeled to LEED or NAHB standards by Phoenix-based Green Street
Development. The event will take place at 3:00 PM on Friday, November 13.
The Elm Street residence is one of three Green Street properties featured on the
Greenbuild 2009 tour schedule, the most from any developer. Green Street has been
designated as an official offsite educational session of Greenbuild, and the company
has been active in creating walkable neighborhoods along Phoenix’s newly opened
light-rail corridor.
“We’re very excited to have Mayor Phil Gordon’s support and participation in this historic
event,” remarked Green Street founder Philip Beere. “The Elm Street home is located
within the Pierson Place Historic District, and the area has seen considerable revitalization
since the opening of the light rail system. We’re proud to be a part of the revitalization of
one of Phoenix’s great historic districts.”
Media coverage of the ribbon cutting will begin promptly at 3:00PM on Friday,
November 13.
