PR Log (Press Release) –
Nov 06, 2009 – Four teenagers, identified as the ‘Hollywood Hills Burglar Bunch’, with a taste for the high fashion, have been charged with stealing approximately $3million in luxury goods from homes of prominent Hollywood celebrities.
In order to pick their target the teens are reported to have studied TV shows, celebrity magazines and websites. They chose which clothing and jewellrey they particularly liked, before breaking into the homes of Orlando Bloom, Lindsay Lohan, Megan Fox, Audrina Patridge, Paris Hilton, Rachel Bilson, Ashley Tisdale, among others. Los Angeles prosecutors have charged three women and one man, between 18 and 19 years of age, with residential burglary felonies, after they stole designer clothes, jewellrey and other accessories. Nicholas Prugo, Courtney Ames, Diana Tamayo, as well as Alexis Neiers, who is filming a pilot for a reality show, are charged with pulling off at least ten burglaries between October 2008 to September 2009. The group was able to locate the celebrities homes, using paparazzi shots and Hollywood star maps. By using the Internet they also found out the stars’ schedules and established when the homes would be empty. After breaking into the homes, they stole whatever they wanted. Rachel Lee, 18, is allegedly the master mind behind the roving gang of hooligans. Lee has been arrested but not charged yet. The three girls charged are Diana Tamayo, 19, Courtney Ames, 18 and Alexis Neirs, 18. Two men, Roy Lopez Jr, 27, and Nicholas Prugo, 18 have also been charged. The women were classmates at Indian Hill High School, a continuation campus in Agoura Hills. They were well recognized for their taste for luxury goods and accessories. It is thought detectives have seized a laptop computer, which is said to hold incriminating photographs the suspects took of themselves while wearing items they had stolen. This includes Lindsay Lohan's blue Rolex watch. Numerous experts are now claiming that the invasive behaviour of the paparazzi, combined with celebrity websites and magazines, has gone too far. They believe many celebrities are now at risk. Blair Berk, a well-known Hollywood attorney who represents some of the victims says "Paparazzi shots and magazine coverage are increasingly prying into the private homes, schools and personal possessions of the stars. That is increasingly creating a very real danger in terms of mentally ill stalkers and criminals." “The stolen property is now being returned to the victims,” said Sean Erenstoft, Prugo’s attorney.
