The Fort Myers based women’s chorus will perform holiday songs, along with selections from their competitive repertoire.
Recently voted as “The World’s Most Entertaining Chorus” by Sweet Adelines International, the Spirit of the Gulf has performed in Hawaii, Las Vegas, as well as venues across the state of Florida. The group is the top-ranked women’s chorus in the state, and has ranked in the top ten in the world at the last two international competitions.
“We’re really thrilled to be a part of the Festival of Trees,” says Linda Boggs, who has sung with the group for five years. “I think performing at the event and helping Goodwill Industries will put us all in the holiday spirit.” More information about Spirit of the Gulf is available at http://www.spiritofthegulf.com.
In just two short years, the Festival of Trees (http://www.tuxandtrees.com) has become one of Southwest Florida’s premiere holiday events. Last year, more than 3,000 people visited the annual showcase, which is hosted by Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida, is also one of the centerpieces of the Fort Myers Holiday Stroll.
The Festival of Trees starts on Friday, November 27 and continues through Wednesday, December 2 at the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center in the Fort Myers River District. The free, family-friendly event features more than two dozen lavishly-decorated holiday trees, which are decorated by area businesses, decorators, artists, and other individuals. This year’s decorators include Robb & Stucky, Miss Lucy’s House of Holidays, the Butterfly Estates, and renowned local artist Leoma Lovegrove.
The Festival culminates in the glamorous black-tie “Tux and Trees” gala on Friday, December 4. At that time, the trees will be auctioned off in an exciting live auction. Tickets to the Gala are $100 per person, and proceeds gala benefit the Southwest Florida Goodwill Foundation.
