Kitchensafe - A new automatic fire protection systrem for kitchens

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Nov 05, 2009 – Flamefast, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of fire safety systems, has launched Kitchensafe, a new rapid deployment fire suppression system.  Designed to operate with all four and six burner ranges, this unique system is environmentally friendly and will make a major contribution towards improving safety in domestic, care home and rented accommodation by saving lives and preventing serious damage to property.

Kitchensafe is a fully automatic fire suppression system that is designed and manufactured in the UK by Flamefast and uses the latest digital technology to sense high temperatures and fire conditions.  In the event of a fire, the gas or electric fuel supply is shut off to reduce the risk of re-ignition and a watermist extinguishes the flames within 5 seconds.  An additional discharge will further cool the affected area rendering it completely safe.  The system also has a 30 minute battery back-up enabling continued operation in the event of a power failure.

“We developed Kitchensafe to eliminate the dangers from fire that can occur in the kitchen,” commented Nigel Roddie, General Manager of Flamefast.  “Kitchensafe will ensure that the highest levels of safety are maintained at all times as it works automatically without human intervention and removes the risks that are inherent when attempting to fight fires with conventional extinguishers and fire blankets.”

Kitchensafe provides higher levels of protection as it works automatically and does not require users to be trained in safety and operational procedures as required when relying on hand held fire extinguishers and fire safety blankets.  The system offers a further significant benefit over extinguishers used in the kitchen environment by allowing the cooking area to be quickly cleaned down without specialist products or skills and ready for further use within minutes of system activation.  In comparison, this can take several hours when using traditional systems.

This unique new system comprises two key components.  A stainless steel wall mounted cabinet houses the watermist cylinder and electronics, whilst a separate manifold installed above the range contains the nozzles and temperature sensor.  Quick release hoses are supplied which connect to the cabinet.  To save space, the watermist cylinder will also be able to be fitted horizontally behind kitchen cabinet plinths.

Kitchensafe also connects to remote gas detectors and integrates with all commonly used building management systems triggering alarms in central control areas should fires occur in remote locations such as student or retirement accommodation.
