Trinity Academy Of Raleigh Students Qualify For Duke University Talent Identification Program

Local Private School 7th Graders Participate In Highly-Selective Program For Academically Gifted Students

RALEIGH, N.C. – Dr. Robert Littlejohn, head of school at Trinity Academy of Raleigh (www.trinityacademy.com), a preK-12 college preparatory school community located in North Raleigh, has announced that 71 percent of the academy’s 7th graders have qualified to participate in the Duke Talent Identification Program’s (TIP) 7th Grade Talent Search.  Duke TIP is in its 30th year for 7th grade selections and is now the largest program of its kind in the nation.  The program selects students from 16 states, who score in the 95th percentile on a grade-level achievement test while attending elementary or middle school.  Duke TIP will allow Trinity 7th graders to learn more about their abilities through above-level college-entrance exams, such as the SAT or ACT testing.

DETAILS:
- More than 2 million students have participated in the Duke Talent Identification Program since its inception in 1980.

- Students must have scored 95 percent or higher on a grade-level standardized achievement test, aptitude test, mental-ability test, and an approved state criterion-referenced test, or students must have scored at or above 125 on an IQ test.
