These unusual events were not the result of a recently discovered love for fancy dress, but part of a charity fundraising event for the Breast Cancer Campaign’s Wear it Pink day.
Established in 2002 by the Breast Cancer Campaign, Wear it Pink Day is an annual event that aims to help raise funds to aid the continuation of pioneering breast cancer research, which is currently carried out at 43 centres across the UK and Ireland. As a gap year travel company who have been working with charitable and volunteer organisations overseas for nearly a decade, Real Gap feel that it is also important to show their support for UK based charities and events such as Wear it Pink day.
As well as wearing all manner of pink clothing and accessories for last week’s Wear it Pink day, the Real Gap staff made their own individual contributions for the campaign, including raising funds with an in-office pink cake sale and sponsoring a member of staff to carry out her daily bank duties, in full pink fairy regalia. This week the team were proud to announce a grand total of £117.04, an impressive amount for just one-day’s work, which will go towards essential cancer research.
Organiser and brand manager Lauren Mackay’s comments on the day reflected the team’s pride in their success ‘we are delighted with the results of the fundraising event. It is definitely a testament to what can be achieved for good causes when we work together.’ Miss Mackay was also happy to confirm that the Tunbridge Wells Real Gap team is very much looking forward to taking part next year.
