Beckley, West Virginia – Tony Martin, candidate for Beckley mayor, has expressed his support for citizens’ efforts to establish an off-leash dog park in Beckley West Virginia.
“I support this organization because they’ve approached this entire process professionally. Their decision to take a non- profit approach is not only wise, but demonstrates the group’s commitment and respect for the taxpayers' money,” Martin said.
“I think one of the most important aspects of the quality of life in any community is to attempt to provide a parks and recreation system that reflects the desires of the citizens. Not everyone plays basketball or tennis, or has children that skateboard and not everyone has a dog. Having a mixed offering allows all of us to enjoy what we desire.”
Martin says there appears to be a true demand for a dog park in Beckley and believes the Dog Park Committee will succeed in their efforts.
