Nov. 4, 2009 - PRLog -- The launch of new ferry service in Cape Verde will be a major boost for the economy. This ferry service will connect islands and reduce the reliance on the costly air service. This will not only help local businesses but also boost the tourism sector considerably. Very recently Cape Verde had attained the status of "Middle Income Country" by African Development Bank (AfDB) with will anyway attract more investments and business to this island country.

Ferry service is also expected to provide a boost to the real estate industry because of increased tourism. The capital city of Cape Verde was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site recently. Cape Verde Fast Ferry will link all nine inhabited islands. Sea fishing, mountain hiking, kitesurfing and windsurfing are some of the prominent tourist activities in the region. Cape verde has a combination of white sandy beaches and even the mountainous terrain.

Therefore the Cape Verde Fast Ferry will provide an excellent source for intra-island commute at reasonable price. this will also increase the business of hotels who depend on tourists for their revenue. Islands like Sao Vicente and Sao Nicolau are relatively unexplored by tourists and they will now have the opportunity to discover them and enjoy the natural beauty. Cape Verde is one of Africa's most stable democratic governments.

The population of Cape Verde is estimated about 520,000 and is located 375 miles from the west coast of Africa. Since the islands are surrounded by sea, the climate here is more mild than the African mainland. There is a high level of education, with over 90% literacy.  Bananas, corn, beans, sugarcane, coffee, fruits, vegetables and livestock products are the main agricultural products of the country. These once uninhabited islands were first discovered by the ancient Phoenicians, then later colonized and exploited by the Portuguese, beginning in the 15th century. The local economy depends on agriculture and limited tourism.

Cape Verde is now a growing economy and as mentioned, the new ferry service has certainly raised economic expectations of the nation.
