Flowers are a great source of non verbal expression. In the age of the Internet this has even become more popular. Most people have sent at least one message to someone accompanied by flowers. Some have even had whole conversations “spoken” through flowers.

The flower that sends the most meaning is the single rose. And the most common single rose is the red rose. It sends the message of love and affection. However there are many other colours of roses that send equally strong non-verbal messages.

•    Single Red Rose
The single red rose is considered to be the most beautiful and romantic. In Roman times it was the symbol of Venus, the goddess of love. Since then giving a single red rose has meant “I love you”.
Red rose pedals can also symbolize love and create a romantic atmosphere. Spread over your bed, floated in the bath, used as a pathway, put in a suitcase, inserted in a letter — these are just some of the ways rose pedals can communicate romantic feelings.

•    Single Peach Rose
This sends a message of friendship, or in some cases love.

•    Single Pink Rose
This is rose transmits gratitude, and is an elegant way of thanking someone.

•    Single White Rose
This rose can have several meanings depending on the circumstances. It can say “I’m sorry” to your partner. White roses have also been considered to be the symbol light purity and innocence. So sending a single white rose may be a sign from the sender that their love is pure.

•    Single Yellow Rose
The single yellow rose can have two meanings. So when it is sent, the circumstance between the sender and receiver must not be ambiguous. If your relationship is joyful, sending a yellow rose to your partner means you are happy with your love and the bond between you. However if the relationship is a bit rocky, sending a yellow rose can mean you are jealous. The yellow rose is one rose that sometime may require a note to explain its meaning.

•    Single Purple Rose
This rose is an expression of beauty. So if you want to tell your partner they are beautiful, send them a single purple rose.

•    Single Black Rose
The single black rose is a very emotive flower. It is a sign by the sender to the receiver that the relationship is ended. It literally means “it’s over”

Roses have been a continuous source of meaning over the centuries. Now with the advent of the Internet the“virtual rose” can express those same meanings that were conveyed with the real thing.

Spacelocker has many virtual roses in its gift gallery. Consider the message you want to send, and then find the colour of rose in the Spacelocker gift gallery that will convey that meaning. And to be sure there is no confusion what you are saying with the colour of rose you have chosen, you can also use the note pad in the gift gallery to send a written message along with your virtual flower.
