Health Care Concerns: Town Hall Meetings

PR Log (Press Release) – Nov 04, 2009 – Health care concerns have reached up to the heavens. The President, State Representatives, Senators,and Congress Leaders are having town hall meetings, online,over the phone, and face to face to address the great outcry over health care. Rev.Dr.Carl Ray Marshall Sr.D.D. of Conroe Texas is a part of that outcry. September 7, 1993 , The Conroe Courer, 'Income Concerns', Page 1A/3A quoted Rev. Marshall as saying ," I have a health care provider whose name is "JESUS" !" This was back when President Clinton was in office. Now President Obama , Congress, the Senate, and the American people have a duty to address this great need in our country."People are saying that its the individuals responsibility to provide their own health care without the government or any other person or entity's intervention ,and that sounds good, but it is not true. When there is a need of great proportions that is more than an individual or mass portion of a Nation can solve alone, then the greater powers must step in to assist in this need. God provides for us all. Sometimes through our own efforts, and sometimes through the efforts of others. No individual is an island unto themselves. There is no true self-made person. Even insurance operates on the many coming together as one to solve a common need. Our unity in solving this need is what's needed not division or debate," says Marshall.  Representative Kevin Brady called Marshall's home last night for a town home meeting which he participated in ,and will participate in another one at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/discussion-on-health-care ,at 10:30am, today.

Marshall believes that People must not come to these meetings with pride, anger, and fear, but with love, compassion, and wisdom. We need to come together and address the need as though our individual lives and collective lives depend on it, because  to  many it does. He started a job at Solara Hospital Conroe  with the understanding he was covered by the health insurance plan provided for their employees. The premium is taken out of his paycheck every two weeks.  A month after his coverage was effective he went to Conroe Family Medicine PA for diabetic treatment and care. As far as he knew he was covered. Two visits ,two co-pays later 9/22/2009 after his office visits 8/3/2009 and 8/13/2009, he gets a bill from the doctor stating that He was not covered and that the liability is his. Solara has a self-insured plan , and Web TPA is just the administrator to that plan. Further investigations,and inquiring by the advice of Ross & Matthews PC Law firm of Fort Worth, Texas revealed that there was a hidden pre-conditions clause in his Master Policy he was not aware of. " I am still paying my premiums,and I have to pay the premiums,the past medical bills that I thought were covered,and any insulin,and care I need now ..I have to do without or hope for a miracle," Marshall adds.He also was diagnosed with High Blood Pressure at one of these Doctors office visits,and it wasn't a pre-existing condition.
Like Marshall many believe the insurance industry has been unregulated for a long time, and its time the government stepped in and did something about it. "God put governments on the earth as his agents, and when the people can't solve a need by themselves, God ordains governments that we voted for and ratified to step in. Now is the time for such action ,and we must support it in unity," Marshall concludes. Marshall's family receives a little over $200 in food stamps with two incomes with a household of 6.  Marshall has went 2 years without a doctor treating his own diabetes himself because he couldn't afford or pay for a doctor or medical costs. How many other Americans are going through the same thing? With many ministries and churches going through tough economic times, the need for a higher power to move through the government is great.
