The UK's largest broadband TalkTalk today launched a new 'Pro' broadband package. The new deal offers customers 24Mb broadband with an unlimited usage allowance.
ChooseISP senior editor Julia Kukiewicz commented on the launch:
“With their new Pro package TalkTalk have essentially simplified their old system of ‘Boosts’ and stuck 50p onto their price.”
“TalkTalk’
s current broadband package ‘Essentials’
– with an 80GB usage allowance and 24Mb speeds added on as boosts – would cost £14.49 a month, Pro costs £14.99 a month. 50p a month extra is hardly breaking the bank – especially given that ‘Pro’ users will be able to enjoy unlimited downloads – but for a brand striving to position themselves as the first choice for budget broadband it is a significant increase. ”
“With the launch of ‘Pro’ there is evidence that TalkTalk are getting serious about boosting broadband speeds for consumers, as opposed to just upping their advertised ‘up to’ speeds. Pro users will get a speed-boosting I-plate and microfilters with their broadband.”
“TalkTalk’
s promotion for the launch of ‘Pro’ – a retro gaming contest to win a PSP – is perhaps another sign that the brand is moving away from its ‘budget’ image to woo gamers and other heavy broadband users.”
