MANIPAL HOSPITAL – If your loved one is in this hospital, then you should be reading this.
It was the night of September 19th and my wife Ranjini was on the phone. She was calling to know whether I have organized my dinner for the night. She had gone to Bangalore to keep my daughter company as she was doing her internship in an architecture firm there. I noticed while she spoke she was coughing intermittently. I told her to stop eating the ice cubes from the fridge (which she loves to do despite being an Asthmatic ) and advised her to drink some hot water instead and go to sleep . I promised to call her in the morning. Instead she called me. At 4.00 am in the morning. Quite unusual for someone who loves to sleep late ( she has a reputation of sleeping thro’ a earthquake in Chennai ! ). Instantly I knew something was wrong. She asked me if I could come down to Bangalore immediately as she felt like going to a hospital. I called her aunt who lives close by and asked her to take her to a hospital.
With that 4:00 AM call, my life changed forever.
