As a guest speaker, representing the pet insurance industry, on The JVS Consumer Show, Mark took part in the phone-in where he was able to answer questions relating to the taking your dog into work.
BBC Three Counties Radio, which is regularly listened to by an audience of up to 155,000, often hosts topical phone-ins, providing hot debates from both sides. At their Petersfield headquarters, the Healthy Pets office regularly accommodates several dogs owned by staff including three golden retrievers and a border terrier.
As a dog owner himself, Mark Effenberg, commented: “The phone-in program was great fun! The benefits of allowing dogs into the workplace are immense, and many listeners were intrigued by the idea of allowing pets at work. Not only do they prove to be a huge stress reliever, but they have a relaxing presence amongst workers, helping to improve relationships amongst colleagues.
“At Healthy Pets, we find that a happy workforce is a more productive workforce, and I implore more businesses to follow our example and allow employees to bring their dogs into the office with them.”
The Blue Cross Fund runs an annual ‘Take Your Dog to Work Day’, which allows businesses to test the waters when it comes to allowing dogs into the workplace. This has proved to be a great success over the fourteen years which it has been running for. During September there were over 2,000 canine companions accompanying their owners into work.
