CANDIDATE WARDELL CONGRATULATES GOVERNORS-ELECT MCDONNELL AND CHRISTIE
Michael Wardell, small business owner, retired Marine, and Nixa resident, today issued the following statement on Tuesday’s Republican gubernatorial election victories in Virginia and New Jersey:
“Congratulations to Governors-elect Bob McDonnell and Chris Christie on their victories tonight in Virginia and New Jersey. They ran smart campaigns focusing on the pocketbook issues that impact the lives of voters every day: jobs, taxes, and excessive government spending.
“One year ago the Democrats were writing the epitaph on the GOP headstone. They said conservatism was dead. Today's election results prove that Americans understand that individual freedom is most threatened by government power, and conservatism means staying true to the principles upon which the country was founded.
“The Republican Party is resurgent because conservatives are energized at the grassroots level. There’s no doubt that if we continue to work hard, we can build the momentum for many more victories in 2010 and 2012.”
Wardell is a retired veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving in Japan and Africa with the Department of State.
