UC Planet Launches Lookout,First WAN Bandwidth Management Software for Microsoft OCS

PR Log (Press Release) – Nov 03, 2009 – Fremont, CA -- UC Planet, a Microsoft Certified Voice Partner, is pleased to announce worldwide availability of Lookout 1.5, the information technology industry’s first WAN bandwidth management and call admission control software solution for Microsoft Office Communications Server.  The application allows businesses to seamlessly integrate network and peripheral intelligence with Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 and R2 (OCS).  UC Planet has completed successful trials of Lookout, and formally announced its worldwide availability during the Fall 2009 VoiceCon Conference in San Francisco.

Businesses use Lookout to extend the functionality of OCS for deploying voice, video and conferencing capabilities across multiple sites and geographies. Lookout enables OCS administrators and network administrators to group Microsoft Office Communicator users into logical “sites” or “zones”, limit calls to and from specific locations, and assess usage for capacity planning and managing available bandwidth as new users, sites and services are added.  UC Planet is also working with leading UC industry vendors in the development of advanced capabilities such as optimizing usage of SIP trunks and routing over PSTN when an enterprise WAN is oversubscribed.

In addition, Lookout provides additional control measures in the event of outages or malicious activity.  This assists IT managers in ensuring that adequate operational procedures are put in place to dynamically regulate multimodal UC traffic in the presence of denial of service attacks, network infrastructure outage or data center outage.
