PRLog (Press Release) - Nov 03, 2009 -
Calculated Industries has introduced its new Hot Rod Calc Road and Strip Performance calculator, a handheld, affordable, accurate and rugged ET Prediction calculator specifically designed for hot rod owner/builders, bracket racers and engine builders. It can help at the track or in the garage with easy solutions to help figure out how to make vehicles perform better and how to predict the results of changes in everything from engine displacement and compression ratio to weather, tire sizes and gear ratios.
At the track, racers can see how weather and elevation will affect their times so they can instantly predict dial-ins using current track conditions. They can predict Elapsed Time and top speed for 1/4 mile or 1/8 mile runs. Inputs for track conditions include temperature, pressure, humidity, and elevation; inputs for the race vehicle include vehicle weight, horse power, frontal area, and drag coefficient. ET and trap speeds are adjusted for motorsport standard atmosphere and can be adjusted for wind speed and direction.
In the garage, engine builders and tuners can easily see how changes in a car’s engine and fuel system will affect performance and solve dozens of “what if” scenarios in seconds, including calculating compression ratio, engine displacement, carb size, volumetric efficiency, mill amount, horsepower, torque and more.
Allen Alexander is an avid car guy and the sales manager for Calculated Industries.
“The Hot Rod Calc is a really fun and powerful handheld calculator. For bracket racers it takes the guesswork out of 1/4- and 1/8-mile ET predictions with air temp, humidity and elevation options. At the track they can calculate how changes to a car's engine and fuel system affect performance with no confusing formulas, charts or computers. Engine builders will appreciate calculating compression ratios, displacement, mill amounts, volumetric efficiency, you name it. You can even determine things like how much your speedo is thrown off by different-sized tires. The rest of us bench racers will love a fun, easy way to prove our ride is faster than our buddy’s over a brew.”
The Hot Rod Calc is a powerful, cost-effective tool for every performance car and truck owner’s toolbox. It was introduced at this year’s SEMA show in Las Vegas. The Hot Rod Calc was awarded the Runner Up award for Best New Performance—Racing product.
MSRP for the Hot Rod Calc is $49.95. For more information, call 1-800-854-8075 or go to www.calculated.com  for a demonstration of the Hot Rod Calc in action.
