    Even with consumer confidence falling in October people are still purchasing beads.  Attendance has increased over 20% since 2008 for the Intergalactic Bead & Jewelry Shows. Beading thrives during recessions. When vacations and even movies are too expensive people stay home more and look for other things to do.  Beaders turn to creating their own jewelry to save money and give beautiful gifts.
    Beading has been around for thousands of years. It has been popular since the moment an ancient human found a shell or stone and wore it around their neck.  Since then beading has been popular in one form or another. Back in 2004, Interweave Press did a survey and found there are more than five hundred fifty thousand active beaders in the US who spent an average of $850 on supplies each year.  
    These beaders love attending the Intergalactic Bead & Jewelry shows because they find a wide selection of quality and unique beads not found in stores or at other bead shows.  Intergalactic really is a one stop shopping source for beads.  There’s an incredible selection of beads in every size and shape imaginable, including semi-precious and precious gemstone beads, seed beads, handmade artisan glass beads, and exotic ethnic beads made from natural materials such as bone and wood.  Our exhibitors are constantly updating their inventory to keep up with current trends.  With its tremendous variety and selection, the Intergalactic Show is a delight to beaders and jewelry designers of all ages and skill levels.  
    Attendees to the show also enjoy meeting and learning from the friendly exhibitors.  The exhibitors offer advice on the types of beads, styles and what’s hot in today’s market.  One of Cincinnati’s favorite exhibitors is Susan Barnes, Fire Goddess, Marietta, GA. Susan designs and creates beautiful handcrafted glass lampworked beads. Another long time favorite is Henry Rubin of Black Wolf Art Gallery, West Palm Beach, FL.  Henry boasts some of the best quality, selection, and prices in the nation with his specialty seed beads and charlottes. To most beaders Henry is a legend!  
    While at the show people can attend classes.  It’s great to learn from an actual person rather than the Internet.  The instructors are knowledgeable and teach some great beading skills to enhance your designs.  
    Even with the recession beaders will flock to the November Cincinnati show to buy thousands of beads to create beautiful jewelry.  Their confidence in beads and beading is still going strong.
