Zimbabwe was once known as the “Breadbasket of Africa”, the major reason for this title was the richness of country in not just its culture or splendor but also in its economic resources. Although since 2000 Zimbabwe has undergone an economic collapse yet, the number of flights visiting Zimbabwe each year has rather increased then decreasing. There are many other tourist attractions in Zimbabwe besides Victoria Falls. The capital of Zimbabwe, Harare, is a hub to may daily and weekly international flights. The key carrier for all Zimbabweans is the flagship carrier “Air Zimbabwe” besides its recent bad reputation due to schedule failures etc the airline has re-developed in leaps and bonds and is serving the purpose proudly with more improved quality and standards of service. The main reason for the deficit in quality earlier this year, was due to the fact that it is the only cheapest direct flight to Harare Zimbabwe and caters the needs of not just tourists but also millions of migrants traveling trough out the year. Air Zimbabwe has weekly flight and as a matter of fact the only direct airline. Other airlines from London go to Harare or Bulawayo Zimbabwe via Johannesburg. For tourists, besides the culture and amazing hospitality of Zimbabweans the major reason for going to Zimbabwe is Victoria Falls.
Victoria Falls is a popular tourist destination located in the western corner of the country.
Great Zimbabwe - the archeological remains of a Southern African ancient city built of stone, located in present-day Zimbabwe which was once the centre of a vast empire known as the Munhumutapa Empire (also called Monomotapa Empire). The word 'Zimbabwe' means 'house of stone.' It covers the modern states of Zimbabwe (which took its name from this city) and Mozambique.
The Eastern Highlands include some of Zimbabwe's most beautiful views. The lush, cloud-hung mountains form the border with Mozambique. The regional capital is Mutare, and Chimanimani is a village popular with tourists and walkers.
Kariba - Located on the northern border of Zimbabwe, formidable Lake Kariba is the result of a large damming project along the Zambezi River. Kariba is a popular tourist destination and affords visitors the opportunity to watch African wildlife in its almost natural environment. It is the biggest source of hydro-electric power for Zimbabwe.
Matobo (formerly Matopos) - Located south west of Bulawayo in Matabeleland, this area boasts exquisite rock formations, as if nature had been playing marbles. Rocks are found balancing in ways that defy logic, a situation created by the eroding winds blowing out the sand between. The rocks are home to the dassie, a small rodent-type animal known more formally as Rock Hyrax, the skins of which are used to make a blanket treasured amongst the local populace. Also present in great numbers are the brightly colored lizards common to Zimbabwe. The area has two dams that become the scene of family picnics, and angling competitions on weekends. A game park is home to herds of sable antelope, an animal not seen further south.
