Grassroots organizations seem to be popping up like weeds these days. A quick search of the internet will bring up dozens of groups formed around the discontent of “the people.” The formerly silent majority is no longer willing to stay that way. People of all shapes, sizes, economic levels, races, religions and political stripes are itching to make their voices heard. But who is listening?
When Michelle Green got wind of an upcoming Rally in Washington D.C. on August 14, 2010, she knew she would be unable to attend. Therefore, Michelle got out the laptop and formed her own grassroots organization. AsACaliMom.com is a new website calling for accountability, transparency and responsibility from our elected officials. The site is also the touch point for the rally Green has planned to coincide with the D.C. rally on August 14, 2010. The intended purpose of our rally is to alert our elected officials to the discontent of “We The People” as to their disregard for the wants and needs of their constituents;
Michelle Green reportedly said, “As a MOM, I haven’t always paid attention to the big picture of what our country will look like when my kids are thriving adults. But as I awake from my nap, and look at the possibility of “could be” 20 years, I am truly jaw droopingly disgusted! When I read Grover Cleveland’s words, “The people support the Government, the Government should not support the people.” I knew that as a Mom I needed to make a difference whether it is big or small. I have to lead by example for my kids. I must preserve their freedoms for the future, the freedoms that I have enjoyed thus far in my own life.”
“The website is open to anyone who wants to participate”
