PR Log (Press Release) –
Nov 03, 2009 – “As technologies converge, it is becoming increasingly challenging to develop a competitive advantage within the marketplace. Your creative team could be the catalyst for finding that unique advantage. Even more importantly creativity can be the key to unlocking consumers current savings splurge,” claims Kelly.
“Oftentimes people argue that creativity isn’t their thing - an argument that couldn’t be further from the truth when one reviews the studies in this area,” asserts Kelly. “Teresa Amabile of the Entrepreneurial Management Unit at Harvard Business School collected nearly 12,000 daily journal entries from 238 people working on creative projects in seven companies. Her findings confirmed that creativity was not just the domain of creative types; everyone can be creative. Another study of genius by George Land and Beth Jarmin found that 98% of 2 - 5 year olds could be considered creative geniuses! The bottom line is that the seeds of creativity are within us all and creativity is truly everybody’s responsibility. Organisations need to create a positive high trust culture in which these ideas can flow,” added Kelly. Kevin Kelly, an Internationally Acclaimed motivational speaker suggests a few ways to tap into this creativity in his new book “Basics before Buzz.” 1. Ask your employees to contribute one idea a month to a nominated ‘Ideas Person.’ 2. Have your own Rent-a-crowd session to generate new ideas for your business? This involves inviting a small group from diverse backgrounds from outside your business to come up with new ideas, potential improvements etc. 3. Ask online for help! In his experience, collaboration - not competition - is the guiding rule of the internet community. Kelly’s new book “Basics before Buzz – managing in challenging times” has just been launched. The book is a follow on to his best selling publications “How? When you don’t know how” and “Life- a trip towards Trust.” Over the past two decades, he has been recruited as a motivational keynote speaker for events in the Far and Middle East, Europe and The US. Next year he is keynoting at the prestigious Million Dollar Round Table where he will address over 5000 delegates in Korea. This event will be followed by trips to Hong Kong, China, South America and the Middle East.
