On July 22, 2009, John Motyka, owner of Discount Tattoos and Piercing/ Elite Ink, was granted a special use variance to operate a tattoo studio at 32750 Mound rd. Warren, MI.. Cecil St. Pierre Jr. presented the request to members of the Warren Planning Commission. Mr. St. Pierre Jr. stated in recent years professional tattooing has become widely acceptable and is a viable industry. He stated this is proven by the tattoo criteria guidelines recently adopted by the State of Michigan and Macomb County.
His client, John Motyka, has owned and operated several studios in the Metro Detroit area since 1993. He has given taped interviews for congress pertaining to the tattoo industry and has been proactive in promoting professional practices. His staff consists of graduates from the Center for Creative Studies.
With the tattoo demand on the rise this is the first tattoo studio to open on Mound Rd.. It is located just South of 14 Mile on the eastside of Mound Rd.. It is directly across the street from Bronx Burgers. During the grand opening passer byers have shown their support by honking horns and waving. Motyka said “We intend to stick to our unique business model of offering elite tattoo service at an affordable price. In the past our customer service has been impeccable. We have no plans of deviating from this path of success”.
Motyka stated “Choose your practitioner wisely. Do your due diligence and do not make any hasty decisions. Getting a tattoo does not have to be an impulsive decision. Slow down and take the time to build your project with someone you trust”.
A 2006 study done by the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology found that 24% of Americans between 18 and 50 are tattooed, and that 36% of Americans age 18 to 29 have at least one tattoo.
There are not enough qualified tattooists to keep up with the continued growing demand for tattoos. Now one can have the best of both worlds from a tattoo studio: high level artistry at reasonable prices.
