The SOSC, Special Olympics of Southern California, had a Half Marathon to raise money and provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community).
Steve Weaver, brother of Bankcard Empire's Vice President, David Weaver,ran the half marathon in a little over two hours, (2:06 and 45 seconds), and the S.O.S.C. raised just over $76,000 to help and assist their members.
