The owners are no strangers to Cape Harbour or to retail. Jeff owns Rumrunners, The Joint and Run Agrounds, while Sean is a managing partner at The Joint and fiancée Michelle also works at The Joint. Andrea said they decided to go into the dog boutique business because they sensed a need for such a boutique in the area. People who live at Cape Harbour, those on vacation and folks who come to Cape Harbour’s many free events and activities often bring along their family pets. Now, along with shopping for themselves, they have a unique and glamorous boutique where they can shop for their favorite canine as well.
Andrea said the store is filled with specialty dog accessories and fun stuff, all of which is adorable, clever and chic. Important too, is that the store carries products made in America. “We are really making an effort to buy products made in the U.S., including recycled products,” said Andrea.
Dog owners can step out in style with fancy leashes, collars and harnesses and since bling is the thing, the store also carries glamorous rhinestone collars with sliders to attach a name or nickname, as well as decorative necklaces for every dog. Since a pup’s life is no work and all play, there is a variety of dog toys to keep them busy and happy. All toys are tested for toughness and dog owners can be assured they are resistant to falling apart. Every special pet needs a comfortable place to sleep and fashion fabric dog beds and what Andrea called “bagel beds” are a feature at the boutique. The beds’ covers are removable for laundering and “What’s neat,” she said, “is that the inserts have a tube filling, so if you wash the cover you can also wash the insert without it getting matted and clumpy.”
Dogs will love munching on the all natural and locally made treats, including California organic treats, green treats, pumpkin and yogurt, all of which contain probiotics which promote a healthy digestive tract. The boutique also has an inventory of shampoos, spritzers, dog frames and gift cards created by a local artist and can recommend local groomers, pet sitters, trainers, and veterinarians. The store’s inventory is constantly evolving and boutique owners are always open to suggestions.
Customers are encouraged to bring their pets, all of whom get treats! You might even meet up with the Gatelys’ French bulldog, Gus, who loves to welcome guests on Tuesday nights. “Doggie.Style”
