FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Nov 02, 2009 – Vegetarians, vegans and meat-eaters alike in New York City and across the United States can now enjoy the taste and texture of animal meat without the cholesterol, saturated fat, hormones, antibiotics and artificial colors that animal meat often contains. All 18 D’Agostino Supermarkets in the New York area are now exclusively carrying the ground beef, ground chicken, ground pork and Italian sausage varieties of Match® vegan meats, which contain natural plant proteins crafted to be a direct animal-free “match” for animal meat. The debut of Match® marks the first time D’Agostino Supermarkets has offered a non-animal-based meat in the meat section of the store; sitting next to such popular products as ground beef and chicken breast. Match® products, including ground beef, ground chicken, ground pork, crab, Italian sausage and breakfast sausage are also available for order nationwide via www.matchmeats.com.

“AB Foods created Match® premium vegan meats to satisfy health-conscious consumers who appreciate gourmet meals,” said Allison Burgess, president of AB Foods LLC, which produces Match® meats. “We are proud to provide New York City with a healthier, more sustainable alternative to animal products that actually looks and tastes like meat.”

While many vegetarian and vegan meat substitutes contain animal products and come pre-formed, pre-seasoned or pre-cooked, Match® revolutionizes vegan meats. Match® products contain zero animal products and function identical to raw animal meat making them perfect for the casual home-cook to gourmet restaurant chefs. “

“Many customers comment on the fact that these items don’t taste like the vegetarian products they are used to eating and cooking,” said Freddie Holland, Executive Chef of AB Foods LLC. “The taste and texture of the Match® products is much more realistic, to the point where cooks are able to use it in dishes that traditionally feature animal meat, and meat eaters are unable to tell the difference between Match® meat and animal meat.”

New York area media and consumers are invited to taste the Match® products offered by D’Agostino Supermarkets during upcoming demonstrations. Match® chefs will prepare gourmet vegan dishes in D’Agostino locations using Match® during the following dates and times:

• Mon. in Nov. and Dec. – D’Agostino at 80th and York – 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
• Tues. in Nov. and Dec. – D’Agostino at 56th and 1st – 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
