Fashion Industry Gets Massive Advance From New Technology.

Trend Science is the result of a two year research project that gives the fashion industry a deep insight into consumer sentiment. It does this by automatically analysing opinions about trends as they develop through social media sources such as Twitter. Provided as a web-based SaaS product, Trend Science plots consumer sentiment for any trend on an easy to read chart or top 20 list, and measures the popularity of trends in general over time.

The recession may be receding in parts of the world, but fashion companies can't afford to use out of date information. Having a clear view of what is in demand now and what trends are slowing down is key to good profits and avoiding big stock markdowns. "We knew what was a hit or a flop immediately during New York fashion week. Now buyers can make earlier decisions about what to order, what their customers liked and, most importantly, what they will buy when garments hit stores six months later. It's going to revolutionise the way companies forecast demand for products," added Julia.

Using Trend Science, retailers can tune their ordering process as positive sentiment for a product starts to wane. Trend Science will reduce workload for busy design and buying staff who are under increased pressure to monitor trends.

Trend Science provides options to break trends down into markets (Europe, USA or Australasia for example) as well as garment types, prints, patterns, colours and details. The patent pending system also allows users to search for any word or phrase and presents a chart showing whether opinion is favourable or not. Users can also see the sources of the opinions, and trace back to the originator.

Stylesignal has garnered interest from major labels, retailers and manufacturers for this new product.
