The 36 year old man lives with his mother, sister, brother, and two nieces. He works full time but hasn't paid child support in over 5 years.
The american woman, is concerned about her sons education as well as her older daughters whom she is also home schooling. One reason she sited was the fact that her daughter was doing food tech projects at home and taking them to class to be graded the following day. Additionally, the older child is, on paper, doing very well in school and is even above many pupils in her form. However, the child can not speak one word of french despite the fact she was in her second year of french. Due to a physical injury her son had at school, and the fact that she was lied to by the school, she allowed him to become home schooled at his request as well. She says her main goal was a stronger family bond. "They get along so much better, and they are happier now." she additionally added, "The feeling you get when you see your child make a metal connection with information is unreal. I wish i would have never put them in public school."
The father told her, he doesn't doubt the education the boy is getting, or the fact that he has plenty of social integration. He simply says, he doesn't believe in home education. This would explain why he told his son home education is illegal in the UK and his mom would get arrested for it.
Cafcass has decided not to get involved stating, this is not a welfare issue. All reports produced by the mother to the courts from the Local Education Authority have been positive and in her favour.
Michelle goes to court on December 8, 2009. An outcome forcing her child back into his mediocre school will no doubt be devastating to her.
