Austrian Ambassador to the United States, Dr. Christian Prosl, is hosting a reception in honor of SOS Children's Villages' 60 year history of providing loving homes for children. Founded in a small town in Austria, SOS Children's Villages is now active in 132 countries and is the world's largest charity for orphaned and abandoned children. Her Majesty Queen Noor, Honorary Ambassador of SOS Children's Villages Jordan, will present the SOS Anniversary Award to Johnson & Johnson for its support of SOS Children's Villages in Africa. Queen Noor will also speak of her experiences with SOS Children's Villages in Jordan. Earlier in October, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt visited the SOS Children's Village in Amman following Queen Noor's special invitation.
Dr. Christian Prosl will remark on the more than half century of growth that has built one of the largest NGOs worldwide committed to children who are without, or are at risk of losing parental care. Yaw Sam, a graduate of the University of Maryland, will discuss his experiences growing up in an SOS Children's Village in Ghana. And finally, a representative of Johnson & Johnson will discuss corporate social responsibility (CSR) in Africa.
Attendees also include executives from Johnson & Johnson, Cartier, Austrian Embassy representatives, Heather Paul, CEO of SOS Children's Villages - USA and others.
