PRLog (Press Release) - Oct 30, 2009 -
The Manu Biosphere Reserve sits adjacent to the ecologically vital Manu National Park, one of the most biodiverse areas in the world. The reserve was created as a buffer zone to ensure the Manu National Park remains protected from logging, poorly managed eco-tourism projects, oil exploitation, overpopulation and land clearance for agriculture. The level of protection in the Biosphere Reserve is lower than in the national park in order to protect the communities living in the area whilst limiting the mass destruction that can occur. Through extensive research the CREES foundation is working towards attaining the necessary balance to ensure that not only can the forest survive, but that communities can flourish.

http://www.QuestOverseas.com teams will be involved in scientific research, reforestation of secondary forest, environmental education and assisting communities to implement sustainable farming practises. After extensive research into the area CREES are now ready to take the fruits of their work into the local communities and teams of volunteers are needed to enable them to apply their practises to a wider area.

Each Quest volunteer will give a £750 donation to the CREES foundation alongside their time, ensuring much needed financial support for the long term success of the project is available. 100% of this donation goes directly to the work being undertaken to protect the Manu Biosphere Reserve, its population, flora and fauna.

Following the project work, the team will embark on an action packed and adventurous expedition through Peru, Bolivia and Argentina, taking in some of South America’s most awe-inspiring and varied sights and sounds.

How much does it cost?
£4,250 for 13 weeks + minimum project donation of £750
Includes all accommodation, food, in country transport, full time Quest Overseas leaders, full UK pre-departure preparation and backup and all activities.

http://www.QuestOverseas.com gap year expeditions are not for the faint hearted and we make sure that every volunteer knows exactly what they will be doing overseas by carefully selecting volunteers.  We are not looking to sign up anyone just to make a quick buck but instead want to support our projects with volunteers who are there for the right reasons.

Quest Overseas run a two day gap year training session in November so that volunteers are fully prepared for their overseas expedition.  Everyone in our UK office has worked on our projects and we are experts in our field.  If you don’t believe us then just give us a call to find out more – 01273 777206.
