The move comes as their current community centre is in desperate need of a facelift as many army members and their families use it as a place to unwind, socialise and catch up with each other.
Jamie Jackson, Chief executive of The Legal Deed Service, who offer name changes for as little as £10, said, “I decided to donate some money to the Clive Barracks in Tern Hill as they do a fantastic job and required some support.
“Seven members of my family are currently based at the barracks including my brother and cousin, so it made sense that I donated some money towards the cause.”
As a thank you for his help, Jamie was invited to the army barracks to attend the opening of part of the centre, where servicemen, their families, and friends attended.
Captain Shepherd from The Royal Irish Regiment said, “Mr. Jacksons brother works in the community office here at the Royal Irish Regiment and on behalf of the unit I would like to say that it is humbling and very honourable that he has given this money out of his own pocket. It is very much appreciated as it creates a nicer environment for not only the members but their families and children.”
Mr Jackson added, “I am always looking for worthy causes to support. The armed forces do an outstanding job and many of these servicemen and women have been fighting in Afghanistan so they really do deserve a space to be proud of where their friends and family can spend time with them in between missions.”
