Michael Kia, the leading dealer of new and pre-owned Kia models in Groton is pleased to inform that Kia took the wraps off the Sorento diesel-electric hybrid at the Frankfurt Auto Show. Though the Kia Sorento diesel-hybrid SUV is currently a concept vehicle, it will join the Kia's green car line-up that includes Kia Cee’d and Kia Forte LPI when it hits the market.
Earning the reputation of Kia's first ever diesel-electric hybrid, the Sorento diesel-electric hybrid shares the same 163 hp U2 1.6-liter turbo-diesel engine that powers the Soul, Venga and the face lifted Cee'd. The engine is linked to a 40 hp electric motor and a dual-clutch transmission.
The hybrid Sorento’s shape has been redesigned to maximize aerodynamics with more tweaks. With the down-sized engine, lower suspension, high-tech wheel rims and narrow tires among other technical enhancements, the Sorento diesel-electric hybrid has reduced the overall drag coefficient and lowered the CO2 emissions by 30 percent when compared to the non-hybrid 2010 Sorento crossover.
Though Kia has not revealed whether it will start production in the immediate future, Michael Kia is sure that it will be the best vehicle produced under Kia’s new EcoDynamics badge.
