Oct. 30, 2009 - PRLog -- When you're trying to figure out what the costs of your new kitchen cabinets and counter tops is going to be, you'll have to take many things into consideration. The materials that your new cabinets are made from will be the biggest factor in determining the costs. Although wood is still the most widely used of all the kitchen cabinet materials, there are now many more options to choose from.

Your kitchen is the most expensive room in your home to build or remodel. This is due to the fact that on average you'll spend about half of your entire kitchen budget on your cabinets. So if you have an over all kitchen budget of $20,000 then about $10,000 should be allocated to your cabinets and counter tops. It doesn't mean that you must spend that much, you can spend more or less if you choose. If you spend more, then other aspects of your kitchen such as your counter tops will suffer. If you spend less on your cabinets, then you may not be getting the best kitchen cabinets available.

You should also be made aware of the fact that just like anything else in the building or renovation costs, you will have many options for upgrading or adding on. With your kitchen cabinets you can add things like and upgraded quality of wood, superior finishes, custom cabinet organizers and many more. Each time you make the choice to upgrade and increase the costs as compared to what you had budgeted, then something else in the kitchen will suffer.

When you do your kitchen cabinet budget, be sure to take into consideration that you don't want to spend $20,000 of your $25,000 kitchen budget on top of the line kitchen cabinets, and then put the cheapest counter in because it will look very much out of place. And the opposite is try as well...if you buy the cheapest kitchen cabinets available, then add an expensive marble counter top, it will look disproportionate to the over look of you kitchen.***
