Running 155 miles in 6 days is challenging, doing it in the Sahara Desert is completely crazy! But American George Chmiel has taken on this challenge and is the only American in the top 10!
Chmiel has been participating in marathons for only 2 years. He works for Bank of America / Merrill Lynch which means that training is a sideline rather than a full time job. Yet, he has managed to forge his way into 6th place among a field of very experienced marathon runners in the 2009 4Deserts/Sahara Race.
Interest in Chmiel's progress is being followed by thousands of people including; co-workers, friends and families. Each day the runners have an opportunity to post a blog message and check comments left on that blog. Running for a charity called The MAGIC Foundation, Chmiel is receiving 7-8 times the amount of comments as the other competitors. His effort has begun to draw serious attention as reporters from Fox, CBS from the Boston area, as well as reporters in Texas etc. are now following this amazing story.
Details are being posted on websites, tweets and facebook. For information online visit: The MAGIC Foundation- http://www.magicfoundation.org/
