Southwest Florida Area Will Soon Have Several
Doctors Express® Locations
(October 22, 2009) – Plans have been announced for Doctors Express, a unique new urgent care treatment center concept, to open up to 100 new care facilities across Southwest Florida within the next 5 to 10 years. Initial areas selected by Master Franchisee Richard Kimsey include Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Sarasota, Bradenton, Lakeland, Ft. Myers, and Naples. According to Kimsey, the Doctors Express concept has been successfully tested and refined over the past three years in its prototype location, under the direction of one of the co-founders, Dr. Scott Burger. “The concept has proven to be effective as a convenient and compassionate alternative to hospital emergency rooms. Our centers’ physicians and medical staff will be able to treat patients who have urgent, but non-life threatening illnesses or injuries. We will utilize the very latest in medical technology, including electronic medical records, digital X-rays, and an on-site full service lab. Each Doctors Express Urgent Care Center will be able to treat most common illnesses and problems, from colds and flu to sports and occupational injuries such as sprains, cuts, and broken bones. Our centers will also offer drug screenings, employment and sports physicals, occupational medicine, and travel immunizations,”
Mr. Kimsey further noted, that Doctors Express, which is open seven days a week to provide convenient care to those who may not have primary care physicians in the area, will be beneficial to Southwest Florida's population, which is a mix of full- and part-time residents, as well as a large number of individuals and families who spend their vacations in these areas. “We will be able to offer a viable option to ER care – and our service delivery times will average 45 minutes – from when the patient enters until he or she is professionally and expediently treated. And, our costs may be substantially less than those for ER care,” Kimsey added.
This Master Franchisee brings vast entrepreneurial experience to this venture: he has a long, successful history of building startup companies, such as Sprint PCS, now Sprint Nextel®. Kimsey's sizeable franchise territory will allow him and his future partners to open a succession of Doctors Express Urgent Care Centers relatively quickly.
