Walks Beside Coaching & Consulting Joins the Northern VA Fall Prevention Coalition

PR Log (Press Release) – Oct 29, 2009 – Leesburg, VA   - - - April 2, 2009 - - - Walks Beside Coaching & Consulting (WBCC), an expert coaching company with offices in New Mexico & Virginia, announced today that they have joined the Northern VA Fall Prevention Coalition (NVFPC).  The Centers of Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) has developed an educational program including exercise routines, home modifications, and medications review and vision awareness.  WBCC, along with professional pharmacists, optometrists, caregivers, and other specialist serving the aging community, will conduct seminars with this model, assisting in an improved quality of life by preventing falls in the community.

“The odds of a significant fall after age 65 in the United States are about one in three.  Fortunately, most of these falls aren't grim.  Yet, falls are the leading cause of injury and injury-related death among older adults.  We serve the local community in the education of fall prevention, ensuring a decrease in the number of fall related injuries.  As gerontologists and coaches, we supplement this program by using the theories of aging and coaching to relieve fear and anxiety over mobility and falling”, said Stephan Marais, a partner in the company.
