The Miami Jewelry School is celebrating its “1,000 students” achievement under the helm of its newest director, Marc Thurn. The school will be offering special prices on its Diploma Program throughout the month of November at its location on 220 Miracle Mile in Coral Gables.
MJS, founded in 1987, is the only licensed school in America taught by a German Master Jeweler. With its professional jewelry program that teaches through demos, hands-on projects and practice, the students learn all the essential professional jewelry making skills and so much more.
This European-style school, teaching with fully equipped individual student work stations and outfitted with the latest in jewelry equipment, is the only one of its kind located in South Florida.
Graduates of the school will be in attendance throughout the month to speak about their work as independent designers, manufacturers, and shop owners. “I live through the success of my students” says Thurn “to see them excel makes this all worthwhile.”
Thurn, born and raised in the historic jewelry making city of Idar-Oberstein, Germany, fell into the family business of jewelry making. Thurn moved to the United States alone at 23 to forge a name for himself. He bought the school on a whim in 2006, and is now set on making his Coral Gables school an international destination for quality education.
