WORLD PEACE DAY CELEBRATION
“The day we lay down our differences and come together.”
New Port Richey, FL (Oct. 28, 2009) - The second annual World Peace Day Celebration will take place in Sims Park by the Cotee River in historic downtown of New Port Richey on Sat., Nov. 7, 2009 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Members of New Beginning Ministries in Holiday formed a “Be the Change” group this past spring. The “Be the Change” group has been meeting monthly this past year and during the summer adopted the World Peace Day Event as a way to reach out to everyone via spiritual and religious sharing with the concept of “let’s lay down the differences and come together.” The message is one of peace, love and connectedness. This will be the second year that New Beginning Ministries is organizing this event.
A multitude of religious leaders throughout the Tampa Bay area will each have an opportunity to share a prayer for Peace in Action at the peace day celebration. Last year more than 20 such leaders appeared at the first World Peace Day event, which was held on the New Beginning campus in Holiday.
From the support received that day and the number of visitors, the organizers of this second annual event decided to change the location to a bigger venue with more parking available. That location is the beautiful Sims Park by the Cotee River in historic downtown New Port Richey.
There will be vendors of books, products and services of a spiritual and religious nature and those pertaining to the ecology and environmental awareness and the healing modalities, such as reike, yoga, therapeutic massage. Vendors with items for sale to include handcrafted jewelry, art and crafts items, music disks, artists postcards, note cards, books and posters, ethnic art and craft items. Vendors will be selected that are specifically suitable to the concept of this event.
Also part of the celebration will be children’s entertainment including clowns, face paintings, inflatables and games. Up to seven food vendors will be selected. The planners are especially looking for wholesome food items.
The event is free and open to anyone who wishes to join in and bring along lawn chairs and blankets. The primary focus of the event is the time of prayer accompanied by meditation and music and at 3:30 p.m. everyone will gather together in a prayer circle for world peace.
