24 7 Parking Report on the Parking Charge Hike

Finding secure and accessible parking in London can be difficult, which is where 24 7 Parking can help.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Oct 29, 2009 -
London, England, Finding secure and accessible parking in London can be difficult, which is where 24 7 Parking can help. Utilising their services could save you from receiving parking charges - the cost of which seems to be ever increasing.

In a bid to slash soaring public debt, local funding has been cut  by up to 30% in some areas, putting local government under pressure to find new income sources. Political pressure is forcing councils to keep tax levels down so to boost town hall coffers parking fines and charges are on the up.

Revenue from parking fines already contributes £1 billion annually to local government bodies - Westminster City council actually earned more from parking fines last year (£81.5 million) than they did from council tax, although they claim a large revenue proportion is put back into the local infrastructure.

As well as increasing parking charges, councils will be looking at other measures, such as road tax for high emission vehicles, higher charges for leisure facilities and perhaps even for waste management.

“With local councils looking to increase revenues car owners can expect larger fines and higher parking charges all round,” says Nick Mordin of 24 7 Parking. “We guarantee that charges for our parking solutions are fixed and aren’t subject to the changing fortunes of local authorities.”
