The last day of Wills India Fashion Week 2009 ended on a spectacular note. Many renowned designers such as Sanjana Jon, Ashish Soni, Ranna Gill, Ritu Beri, Tarun Tahilani, Wendell Rodricks, Ritu Kumar, Rina Dhaka, Suneet Varma, Rohit Bal.
P7 News Channel was the exclusive official broadcaster of Wills India Fashion Week. P7 News Channel supported designer Sanjana Jon’s, she was in India to participate in the Fashion Week for ‘Save the Girl Child’ campaign.
Sanjana`s collection drew her inspiration from the basics of Humanity –the family. Sanjana incorporated family and her special relationship with her brother into her creations. Her collection was a mix of Indian and western silhouettes, including corsets, tops, skirts, dresses, saris, cholis and lehangas. Salman and Sohail Khan, Sushmita and her brother, Sajid – Wajid, Riya and Raima Sen, Ayaan and Amaan Ali Khan and Shibani Kashyap walked on the ramp.
Ashish Soni concentrated on structure and cut rather than ruffles, tiers, frills. He has also introduced 'carrot pants' which is a high waisted, pleated and baggy pair of trousers which were extremely tapered to just above the ankle. Ritu Kumar’s collection focused on flow and drape, with quirky detailing. The section had muted and earthy tones. Fabrics included washed silks, nets, and hand woven patterns.
Ankur and Priyanka Modi's collection drew inspiration from summer with fabrics such as chiffons, satin-georgettes, silk muls and jerseys being used. Suneet Varma’s was inspired by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's classic Operatic rendition, Swan Lake. Prashant Verma whose line had clothes that imposed an altered architecture of impending apocalyptic doom. The finale designer Rohit Bal's line was called 'Yasas'. The designer brought alive his unique individual interpretation of splendour and grandeur of the Golden Peacock.
